TORONTO, ONTARIO — (November 19, 2015) Symbility Solutions Inc. (TSX.V: SY), a global software company dedicated to developing applications for the insurance industry, announced that it has received third-party ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for its global operations and infrastructure – including the development, management, maintenance and delivery of Symbility’s products, services, applications and data. Symbility also has achieved ISO/IEC 27034 conformance that demonstrates the company’s continuing commitment to apply security techniques during the software development process.

The ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard specifies a formal information security management system that identifies, designs and implements the security controls necessary to help ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information assets, including customer data. Symbility’s certification was awarded after an extensive audit by PECB, an independent provider of management systems assessment and certification.

Joel Moreno, corporate security officer for Symbility Solutions, commented, “Earning the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification and ISO/IEC 27034 compliance combined with our other accreditations demonstrates that, from the perspective of risk mitigation, data security and continuous process improvement, Symbility provides industry-leading levels of protection to our global clients and their sensitive data. Being certified by an independent, internationally recognized accrediting body like PECB gives our customers peace of mind and assures them that data security is built in to all aspects of our business, from strategic planning to day-to-day operations.”

“In the past few years several large organizations have dealt with major intrusions of their software or infrastructure that have resulted in the loss or exposure of sensitive customer information,” added James Swayze, chief executive officer, Symbility Solutions. “Preventing similar instances and ensuring the safety of all customer and partner data are a top priority for Symbility. By achieving ISO/IEC 27001:201 certification, Symbility becomes a member of a select group of companies that includes the likes of Google, Microsoft and other security leaders. This is an incredible achievement that brands Symbility as the industry standard and demonstrates our unwavering commitment in securing the data of our growing global customer base.”

“PECB congratulates Symbility Solutions for meeting the requirements of the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard and joining the elite group of organizations that have accomplished this achievement,” stated Faton Aliu, president and chief operating officer, PECB. Eric Lachapelle, chief executive officer, PECB added, “Indeed, Symbility has every right to be proud about achieving certification and compliance to these standards. It clearly shows an outstanding commitment to information security as well as a desire to be among the leading organizations worldwide regarding information security management.”
