The Symbility Solution

Symbility's mobile claims™ revolution means property claim adjusters and restoration contractors can now process claims on-site. We don't mean in a van parked at the site—we mean in each room, right where the damage is. Symbility is used while moving around the site, so as you inspect the loss, you capture the data and build the complete estimate. This eliminates the need to make notes on paper and then transcribe the notes into traditional estimating software out in a van or back at your office. Symbility is the only claims system designed specifically for pen-based computers. It results in claims being settled up to six times faster and more accurately—reducing adjustment expenses and lowering indemnity.

Symbility is all about mobility, and this translates into efficiency. This is all made possible with three key technologies:

1. Pen-based computers allow you to use the software while staying mobile—you don't need to put them down, and you don't need to leave the computer in one location.

2. Wireless technologies are now mainstream—affordable, practical and available almost everywhere, allowing you to connect to the Internet regardless of where you are.

3. Symbility software harnesses these technologies—it's the only system designed from the ground up specifically for wireless, pen-based computers. That means it's been engineered for slow wireless bandwidth, programmed for slower CPUs with memory and screen size restrictions, and designed so that the stylus is the only input device you need. Installing a competitor's desktop-based software (that has not been designed for wireless, pen-based computers) on a pen-based computer results in an entirely different (less efficient, more difficult) experience.

   Pen-based computers use a stylus ("pen") for input and controlling every aspect of the operating system. Unlike laptops, they don't need to be placed on a flat surface to use them (you can see them while surveying a loss) and a pen is a much more natural way of interacting with a computer (a touchpad is not efficient, and a mouse needs another clean flat surface!)

   

The complete Symbility solution is comprised of two components:

1. Symbility.NET − an Internet-based communications hub, data warehouse and analytics engine. Symbility.NET allows all claim participants to access all information related to all claims they've ever participated in, from any computer with an Internet connection. It also provides very powerful analytics tools to mine the extensive data collected with each claim and create various graphical and tabular reports, as well as search for specific claims based on numerous criteria.

2. mobile claims − a freely-downloadable, lightweight application that is used to review claims, gather information, create and edit estimates in the field (on a pen-based computer). By utilizing our unique claims synchronization technology, mobile claims is essentially an extension of Symbility.NET, providing a way to take your claims data off-line, and with you wherever you go. It runs on virtually any current Windows® computer, whether pen-based or not.

To use Symbility.NET, all you need is a PC, laptop or Tablet PC with an Internet connection (IE 5.5 or higher is required). mobile claims will run on virtually any reasonably-current Windows-based PC, as well as any Tablet PC. Tablet PCs are pen-based and wireless, and therefore will allow you to exploit the full potential of the software. However, it is not mandatory that you run it on a pen-based, wireless PC. The mobile claims software is not licensed, not copy-protected and has no restrictions on where you can install it and use it. There is no upfront license purchase cost for the system—just a small fee for unlimited activity per claim.

With Symbility, when you are assigned a claim or when a claim is ready for review, or when any other activity occurs in one of your claims requiring your input, where you are is irrelevant.
