Pen-Based Claim Estimating

Symbility introduces the next revolution in property loss claim processing technology. Our mobile claims software is the first and only designed from the ground up specifically for pen-based, wireless computers. For the first time, claim adjusters and restoration contractors can:

  • Complete full estimates while moving around the site

  • Access all claims data from anywhere

  • Draw graphically rich floorplans, roofplans and exterior elevations using only a pen

  • Capture room and roof dimensions in one click with a wireless Disto® laser rangefinder

  • Transmit estimates, photos and floorplans wirelessly to other claim participants before leaving the site

  • Be notified instantly of all claim activity

Symbility's mobile claims™ system is a revolutionary property claims processing technology that does what no other property loss claims estimating system has ever done before: it allows estimators to create, analyze, edit, review, transmit and receive complete property loss estimates anytime, anywhere.

We're not talking about installing estimating software on your laptop and taking it with you to the job site, then promptly placing it on a clean, flat surface (if there is one) so you can use it. We're talking about taking a full claims system with you as you move around the site. Capturing data directly into it without stopping or returning to your laptop. Sending complete estimates to adjusters or contractors before even leaving the site. We're talking about hyper-efficiency because there's no mouse to mess with, no typing to do and no measuring with a tape measure (if you also use a Leica Disto® Plus).

This is all made possible due to our unique software that is specifically designed for pen-based computing. Designing the software from the ground up for all the nuances of pen computers is the key. Although it's true you can install any software compatible Windows XP on a Tablet PC, unless the software has been designed for a slower CPU, low bandwidth connections, precious battery life, portrait screen orientation, and a "stylus" (pen) as the only input device, you just can't come close to the efficiency of using the Symbility solution.

Preparing On-site Property Loss Claim Estimate

Symbility users keep moving and don't stop while building their estimates, even while recording measurements. You record all details about the loss directly into the pen-based PC, and as you record the details, you create the estimate—including floorplans, roofplans, photos, notes and annotations. No more double-entry of data (once at the site, then again into the computer back at the office).

Pen-based scoping is quickest and easiest

Pen-based scoping

Symbility's unique freeform "connect-the-dots" drawing tool (patent pending) lets you scope rooms of any shape and size easily with the stylus. Even angled walls are drawn with ease. Regardless of the shape of rooms or roofs drawn, Symbility calculates the surface area and linear length of the floor, ceiling and every wall—all you do is drag items with the pen from the regionalized pricing database to the surface(s) they apply to, in order to build the estimate. That's the power of the pen.

Not only does Symbility eliminate the double entry of recording the loss details on paper then having to enter that data into a computer to build the estimate (not to mention the driving time to transport it back to your office), but Symbility gets the estimator out of the loss location sooner (vs. the pen-and-paper approach) and with more complete and accurate data. Having a computer with you as you move around the site allows you to take advantage of the main task computers are built for—automation. For example:

  • If all windows on a floor are identical, define the properties of one (width, height, distance from floor, type, etc.) then copy and paste the rest

  • Create Item Batches: lists of items that commonly appear together. Ex: apply all 26 items of your standard "Kitchen Fire" batch in one motion, then delete or change any items as necessary

  • Save any floorplans or roofplans previously drawn for later use on any device you happen to be using

This is especially important in CAT losses where efficiency is crucial... this is where Symbility really shines.

The stylus (pen) is the only input device you need. Everything you do in the software is done with it. This is the key to creating full estimates on-site. Only Symbility has been designed specifically for a pen-based environment.
