James R. Swayze
Chief Executive Officer
James R. Swayze brings more than 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry to his role as CEO of Symbility Solutions (formerly "Automated Benefits"). Before joining Symbility in 2004, Mr. Swayze held senior executive positions across North America and Europe with a number of global technology, financial services and insurance leaders. Mr. Swayze co-founded and served as president of Insource Limited, a financial services marketing and product development consulting firm, where he led the company’s growth and ultimate acquisition by General Electric (GE) Capital in 1997. Mr. Swayze subsequently joined GE Employers Reassurance Canada (GE ERC) as senior vice president, business development where he was responsible for building the value of its Canadian life reinsurance division to more than $1 billion. Mr. Swayze then assumed the role of Vice President, Sales and Marketing, North America for GE ERC’s parent company, General Electric (GE).
Mr. Swayze is an acknowledged expert on the application of technology to the insurance industry, with several features on emerging trends published in industry publications such as Canadian Insurance, Claims Canada and Claims Advisor. Mr. Swayze is also a regularly sought-after speaker at industry conferences and events throughout North America. Mr. Swayze graduated in 1985 with a Bachelors of Science, Mathematics & Statistics from the University of Western Ontario.
Richard Adair
President and Chief Operating Officer
Richard Adair is a practiced finance professional with a career spanning more than 18 years. For the last 15 years Mr. Adair has acted as chief financial officer for several start-up technology companies while continuing to provide advisory services to these public and privately held companies through his personal consulting firm. In 2007, Mr. Adair joined Symbility Solutions as CFO and now acts as President and COO of Symbility Solutions.
Mr. Adair holds an Honours Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario and received a Chartered Business Valuator designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.
Marc-Olivier Huynh
Chief Technology Officer and Founder
Marc-Olivier Huynh brings more than 15 years’ experience in software development to his role as CTO of Symbility Solutions. Mr. Huynh’s primary focus is to stimulate innovation in the development and enhancement of Symbility’s industry-leading software suite for P&C insurers, drawing on his extensive expertise in mobile and server-side application development, invoicing and scheduling systems, and insurance risk management software.
Mr. Huynh’s passion for software development began early in his career, co-founding his first software company, Cyclone Software, at 17 years old and later working as architect and lead developer in various technology firms including Annuity Systems and Eurekium Innovations before founding Symbility Solutions in 2002. Graduating at the top of his class, Mr. Huynh holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.
Blair Baxter
Chief Financial Officer
Blair Baxter is an experienced CFO at both private and public companies with over 25 years of experience. Over his career Mr. Baxter has held senior executive positions in a number of companies primarily in the technology sector including Versa Systems Ltd, a software company, as Chief Financial Officer at JumpTV Inc (TSX: JTV) a media and entertainment company as Chief Financial Officer at Burntsand Inc a publicly traded (TSX: BRT) business consulting and technology services firm, as Vice President – Finance at Iogen Corporation, a biotech company and as President of Choreo Systems Inc, a software reseller, Mr, Baxter also serves a Chair of the Board of Governors of The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences.
Mr. Baxter holds a Bachelor of Commerce (highest honours) from Carleton University and is a Chartered Accountant.
