Release notes:

What's new in Symbility version 2.7?

(Version 2.7.12, originally released 10/11/06)

BUGS FIXED

BUG 8068 Gable roof dormers not attached properly resulting in negative area calculation

mobile claims

Symptoms: In certain (rare) circumstances a gable dormer would not get properly attached to another roof shape, resulting in a negative area calculation (quantity of SF or squares) for the roof shape the dormer was improperly attached to.

Explanation: Fixed.

NEW MINOR FEATURES AND ENHANCEMENTS

ENHANCEMENT 920 Date of loss limited to only past or present date

Symbility.NET

When entering the date of loss for a new claim file, there was no limit on the date that could be entered. Now only today's date or a date in the past can be entered.

ENHANCEMENT 8076 Item List and Cart sub-pane locations reversed

mobile claims

This usability improvement recognizes that when most users open the Item Pane to attach items to rooms or roofs, they want to see the items currently attached to each room or roof, whereas the Cart is used generally when beginning to scope the loss (recall the Cart is a temporary holding area for items pulled out of the database that will be needed for the loss). Before, the Cart would always be opened fully and the Item List would need to be opened manually. Now, it's the opposite. Note that this only affects Tablet PC users using the software in portrait mode (where the Item Pane appears at the bottom of the screen).

NEW FEATURE 1663 Ability to hide rooms that contain no items in Symbility.NET

Symbility.NET

A while ago we added a feature to mobile claims that would suppress the display of rooms in the estimate to which no items had been attached. We've now added the equivalent feature to Symbility.NET. When viewing an estimate, the command Hide Rooms With No Items is now available in the Options menu.

NEW FEATURE 8013 Recap by Category

mobile claims/Symbility.NET

Added to the bottom of the Recap page of an estimate, under the "Recap by Area" is now a financial summary of the estimate which groups all financials by the category/subcategory the line items are from.

NEW FEATURE 7229 Grades now included in keyword search

mobile claims

When searching the pricing database for a keyword, only item descriptions and actions used to be searched. Now the Database keyword search tool will also search within all grades.

NEW FEATURE 4447 Ability to import estimates from claims associated with different pricing database objects

mobile claims

Due to the more robust pricing database framework (detailed in the accompanying explanation of the Database Manager feature) it is now possible to import estimates from claims that use a different version of the pricing database. This overcomes the previous limitation that would prevent an estimate being imported if the claim used an older version of the database.

NEW FEATURE 8374 Multi-level photo pages

mobile claims

Instead of a single "Photos page" you can now add an unlimited number of Photo pages which reside under the "Photos" branch in the Claim Explorer. "Photos page" is a bit of a misnomer since there can be an unlimited number of actual sheets (of "paper") within a single "Photo page", so instead, think of a "Photos page" as a collection of photo sheets. The multiple Photo pages that you can add each work exactly as before—all that has changed is that just like diagrams or estimates you can add as many as you want, rename them and delete them. By default, all new claims will contain one Photo page, named "Photos".

NEW MAJOR FEATURES

NEW FEATURE 8107 Database Manager

Symbility.NET

The brand-new Symbility.NET "Database Manager" module is a major new feature and the reason why, despite being in development for 6 months—our longest lapse between releases—it is the only major new feature in this release. Basically, the Database Manager permits complete flexibility and control over every aspect of the Symbility pricing database (provided by Craftsman). Note that if your company is usually assigned claims through Symbility by an insurance company you probably won't interact much with the Database Manager interface, but rest assured all Symbility users will be positively affected by the Database Manager module, which includes many enhancements under the hood as well.

A detailed description of the Database Manager features and functionality is too lengthy to include in this document so we've made it a separate document that you can access here.
