(Version 2.4.7, originally released 12/12/05)
NEW FEATURES
FEATURE 1903 – Windows Mobile 5.0 compatibility
The Pocket PC edition of mobile claims is now fully compatible with the just-released new version of Microsoft's operating system for handheld pen-based devices, now called "Windows Mobile 5.0". All new Pocket PCs will offer this new operating system which includes many valuable enhancements (so many that mobile claims was not immediately compatible without some programming changes).
FEATURE 5169 – New Symbility.NET table browsing controls
Most tables in Symbility.NET now have VCR-like controls that make accessing data much quicker.
You can "on-the-fly" scroll to another page by dragging the "seek bar".
You can access another page much quicker because the whole web page doesn't have to re-load each time you go to a new page—only the table.
FEATURE 5320 – Ability to drill down through subfolders in Photo Explorer
It's now a lot easier to navigate through different folders if that's how you keep your photos organized. Along with the photos present in the selected memory card or folder, you will see icons for all subfolders. To open a subfolder, double-tap it. To move up a level, you can double-tap the icon labeled ".." (there is also the "up one level" button on the toolbar).
FEATURE 16 – Ability to browse photos in subfolders of selected folder
Another handy feature in the Photo Explorer is the option "Include Subfolders", available in the View menu. When ON, it will show all photos in the currently selected memory card/folder as well as all photos in any subfolders, without having to drill down to those subfolders. You still have the option of opening the subfolders as described in feature 5320 (above).
FEATURE 453 – Ability to rotate photos on Floorplan
Most digital cameras don't save a photo in "portrait" orientation (taller than wide) when you rotate the camera to snap the photo in that fashion—you always get a photo that is wider than it is tall. If you are tired of seeing doors laying on their side when adding photos to the floorplan, you will be happy to know that you can now rotate photos clockwise in 90 degree increments using the Rotate button, just as you would a room shape.
Photos placed on a Photos page can also be rotated with the Rotate Photo button.
FEATURE 5397 – Increased flexibility for searching claim list by elapsed days between claim statuses
The Status Ages tab of the Advanced Search panel has been improved to allow you the ability to specify the start point and the end point between which to count the number of elapsed days. Before, you could only search for claims that had elapsed a certain number of days from the Date of Loss (the "elapsed days to" date could be any other status). Now you can specify that the elapsed days count should begin at any status.
You can also specify that only business days should be counted (i.e. weekends will be ignored).
FEATURE 1643 – Estimate summary by component
A new "Summary" page has been added to the Estimate. Like the "Recap" page it breaks down the financials of the estimate and allows you to look at your estimate in a different way. The Summary page separates materials from labor of all items in the estimate, and shows the total quantity and total cost of each unique material or trade involved in the estimate. If the material is being estimated in a different unit of measure than what it would be purchased in, it also shows the purchase quantity (if known). For example, if 132.32SF of drywall is being replaced, it will also show that 4.23 sheets of drywall are needed.
FEATURE 2658 – Ability to add multiple participants/vendors to multiple claims at once
If you regularly need to involve several others from your company in several claims, you can now add one or more participants from your company to multiple claims at once, without needing to open each claim and add the participants individually. From the Claim List on Symbility.NET, select all the claims that you would like to add one or more participants to, by checking the checkbox for each claim record. Then use the command Add participant to selected claims. Proceed to select the participants as usual, but they will be added to all claims that you selected.
If you are an adjuster at an insurance company, the same method works now for assigning multiple claims at once to one or more vendors; use the command Assign vendor to selected claims.
FEATURE 1838 – Multi-level floorplan viewing
This is a very handy feature that can save an immense amount of time drawing rooms (as if Symbility didn't already do that!). When drawing a floorplan of an upper level (or basement) once the main level has been drawn, you can now superimpose an existing floorplan over the floorplan you are working on. This will show the existing floorplan "faded" (that is, visible but without getting in the way), making it easy to trace the rooms of the upper level over the beams and structural walls of the lower level. To do this use the Show Floorplan command in the View menu, and select the floorplan to show superimposed on the current one. To stop showing the superimposed floorplan, use the Show Floorplan command again.
Not only does this provide you a visual guide, but any rooms you draw will snap to the walls of rooms in the superimposed floorplan. Since most rooms will align perfectly with the walls of the other level, this allows you draw most rooms of the upper level without measuring!
FEATURE 5637 – Outside dimensions of master room stay constant when modifying dimension of subroom enclosed within
This is a usability improvement for working with subrooms. Before, if you changed the the dimension of a subroom enclosed within a master room using the Disto or the Feet/inches gizmo, the room would expand outside the boundary of the master room (in the example to the left, if you increased the length of the closet's 3'9" wall, the top 7'1" wall would move upward). Now the subroom will remain enclosed within the boundary of the master room, so the bottom 7'1" wall will move down, decreasing the length of the 13'4" wall of the Kid's Bedroom.
FEATURE 5784 – User control over trade rates
Company administrators can now override the trade rates used by the Symbility database using the new "Trade Rates" page of the Claim Defaults (in Symbility.NET). Here you can alter the Base wage, Paid leave and Taxes&insurance components of each trade, as well as specify if any of your defined taxes should apply to items that use this trade or not. To override a trade, click the trade to place it in "edit" mode, alter any fields then click Accept. Trade records that have been altered will appear in black text; those that have not been altered (and therefore match the data provided by the source Craftsman database) will appear in grey text. Any fields in red indicate that you have altered them, but since you altered them they have also been updated by Craftsman. The Craftsman updated data is not applied to any trades that you override unless you use the "Reset" link that will appear for these records.
Note that if you are assigned a claim by an insurance company, any trade rates you enter are not used for that claim—only trade rates and other modifications that the insurance company has entered are used for that claim.
FEATURE 4941 – Shortcut buttons added to Wall Editor to add new subtractions
We have added shortcut buttons for adding new subtractions to walls in the Wall Editor. This provides a quicker way of adding subtractions than using the Add menu or the context menu (tap-and-hold) for the wall.
FEATURE 3056 – Multi-state estimate statuses
Replacing the "Completed" checkbox at the top of the estimate page (which was used to indicate the estimate was complete and could be viewed by others) is a new drop-down list, that allows the estimate status to be set as "In progress", "Completed" or "Approved". To mark an estimate as complete now, just select "Completed" from the drop-down list. As before, this automatically escalates the claim status to "Estimate Completed" if it is not already set.
If you are the originator of the claim, you can also use this drop down list to mark your assignee's estimate as approved. This will automatically set the claim status to be "Estimate Approved" and as before, send a notification to the assignee alerting them that they have approval to proceed.
This is the complete set of conditions of how the estimate status can be set:
In progress » Complete: only by the estimate author Complete » In progress: only by the estimate author In progress » Approved: not allowed Complete » Approved: only by the originator Approved » Complete: only by the originator Approved » in progress: not allowed
You can see the status of each estimate from the Claim Explorer without having to open up the Estimate page, because the individual estimates will use the appropriate icons from the Estimate Status drop-down list.
When changing the claim status to "Estimate Completed" or "Estimate Approved" from the Loss Summary page (either in Symbility.NET or in mobile claims), you are prompted to specify which estimate(s).
