Other Equipment to Consider
A Disto laser rangefinder is a handheld, electronic, point-and-shoot measuring tool that uses laser technology to measure distances. The laser gives the rangefinder incredible accuracy (±1.5mm over a distance of 100 ft.) and makes measuring ceiling heights, walls, windows, doors and roofs extremely efficient because of its point-and-shoot functionality. The measurement is captured instantly.
The benefits of using a Disto are fully realized because of its integration with Bluetooth wireless technology. Measurements acquired from the Disto are instantly and wirelessly transmitted into the Symbility mobile claims software. This eliminates tape measures, additional measurement input into software and allows for easy measurement taking in difficult and dangerous loss sites.
Disto A6 laser rangefinders made by the Swiss company Leica work with mobile claims. Your tablet PC must also have integrated Bluetooth wireless capability or Bluetooth added to it with an add-on card.
Other
Portable printer - Providing a hardcopy of an estimate to the insured is now a simple, on-site process. A Bluetooth-enabled, battery operated printer, like an HP mobile inkjet printer, will also allow you to print wirelessly from the claim site.
Digital camera - mobile claims allows you to place digital photos within claims, floorplans, attach them to items or lay them out on photo pages. When uploading a claim file you have the option to send the full photos or just low bandwidth-friendly thumbnails.
Cellular phone - Take advantage of text messaging to receive notifications of claim events. If your phone is Bluetooth-enabled, you have the equivalent of a wireless modem, allowing you to access the Internet virtually anywhere.
